Sun mask – Wood – Eket – Nigeria

Beautiful Eket sun mask from Nigeria. Polychrome typical aspects with a central round-shaped face surrounded by motifs with triangles. The Eket worship the sun and the moon. The round faces liked masks are very characteristic of the ethnic group.

Eket circular masks are usually worn during Ekpo secret society cermonies. The lack of detail contributes to the power of the mask. The mask is in good condition with traces of wear and tear.
