Rare puppet figure of equestrian from the Bambara people of Mali.
The puppet player showed his narrative skills at diverse festivities such as those of birth, marriage, harvest, celebrations to ask for a good hunt.
Beautiful wooden marionette of a horse rider. Abundantly decorated with grass-like fibers. Horses and riders are highly regarded in the BAMBARA culture. They represent wealth and power. Good condition with traces of tribal use.
