Stylistic blacksmith bellow from the Punu people of Gaban.
Blacksmiths bellows, many quite beautiful, were sculpted in the shape of figures – like this one.
These bellows used by the Punu show the skill and sculptural qualities of utilitarian objects, used daily in villages throughout West Africa, place them among works of fine art.
