Helmet mask – Wood – Kwele – Gabon

Beautiful hand carved wooden helmet mask of the Kwele tribe living in Gabon.
The Kwele use several types of masks in ceremonies to promote harmonious interaction and group solidarity. Kwele masks, many with heart-shaped face, are among the most beautiful forms of African art. Mask with multiple faces with fine face expression. In good condition with traces of wear. The wood on the top part of the mask is a bit weathered due to aging.
