Stylistic Akan ancestor pendant from the Ashanti tribe of Ghana.
Akan goldweights are weights made of brass used as a measuring system by the Akan people of West Africa, particularly for trade arrangements with one another.
Poured according to the old technique of lost wax, each piece is original and unique. Acting on the advice of a village diviner, certain jewelry, including pendants like this, were worn to obtain forgiveness and protection. The figures represent ancestors.
