Great Mossi Zazaigo headdress from Burkina Faso.

The Mossi people live in Burkina Faso and create several types of masks and headdresses, of which the zoomorphic Zazaigo dance headcrest, used to honor deceased members and at various secular ceremonies, is one of the most distinctive. The Mossi believe that certain animals, including the roan antelope, are totemic guardians of the community and as such, the antelope is a favored subject in the creation of a Zazaigo.
